Dear Brethren,
I am rejoicing as I write this: Jared and Rebekah Stevenson are at full support, and leaving this month for France. By the time that many of you read this, Jared will be gone; Rebekah and the children (Bryce & Rosalyn) are to follow later [for those with internet access, you may find the Stevensons at www.gffministries.com]. When Jared has found suitable housing - no small feat on a missionary’s budget - the family will follow. Pray for the family. In many ways, this is the largest adjustment that a missionary has to face in his life. A different culture, language, place, and lifestyle are often a HUGE challenge. Thankfully, Patrice and Julia Niveaux are there to help, as well as other missionaries. Most of all, the Lord of Heaven and Earth is there!
America’s economy. Many would say that there is not much to rejoice over here! Yet, there is. No responsible person would wish to minimize the very real pain and problems that some are having, yet neither dare we to forget that GOD is in control. As previously mentioned, GFF has lowered our administrative fees two years consecutively. We did not do this expecting a problematical economy; we did it because we care for both our missionaries and our Christian public. Every dollar that is given to God’s work is precious, and must be used as efficiently as possible. At this point, GFF is managing well in this economy, and trusting the Lord to keep HIS work going no matter what else may happen. As Paul said, “I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.” (Phil 1.18) And, the Gospel Furthering Fellowship is still ‘hiring’ [missionaries].
The reason that we are still ‘employing’ is that people need the Lord. It is that simple. It is a profound truth that does not change with time, until each one sees the Lord in Glory. Your continued prayers are the reason that new missionaries are being directed our way, and the ‘prime mover’ for ministry. We realize that prayer is hard work, and one that too few engage themselves in doing. Prayer really does change things; it is that vital! I know that many pray for us at the office, and Ruth and I (Bruce) personally. Allow me to say, for 2009, keep up the good work – prayer.
By God’s Grace,
