Dear Praying Brethren,
We can safely say (now) that the Lord did NOT come this past decade; many expected that He would. Will He come in this decade? Only God knows. In the meantime, we must "occupy" (continue our specific work) until He comes (Luke 19.13).
What is in store in this coming decade? While only God knows that, the possibilities for GFF are many and varied. We have vast opportunities opening for us in Africa, Asia, Europe, and other places also! I am excited about the opportunities, while also realizing that we are still a (relatively) small mission group with limited resources. Yet God greatly blessed in the "2000s"; and perhaps the largest reason for that was the prayers of God's people. We are so thankful for YOU!
With the opportunities comes the obligation for responsible management. By God's Grace, we have managed our finances well (we believe); we also need to manage our personnel well. Just to continue our present ministries, more people are needed. These bodies of flesh will not endure forever. If both the Lord and I tarry until 2020, I will be 75 years of age (August 2020). It would not be wise (for me) to plan definitively to be here until 2020 as Director; nor is it necessarily wise to plan on other personnel being here. Pray for us as we seek God's leading in several critical areas. The opportunities truly are breathtaking.
There are one billion, two hundred million Chinese living in Asia. They cannot worship the Lord freely, although there are some outside Christian elements in China. Hundreds of millions of other Asians are also being denied total religious liberty. Christ died for all of these, and they need to be reached as God opens doors. GFF will not 'open doors' by unlawful means. We are confident that God will allow us to work where He wishes work to be done. PRAY that the Lord opens doors, and gives us the wisdom and 'wherewithal' to go through those doors that He has (or will) open!
In Matt 23:37 ff., the Lord looked out at Jerusalem and said "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem"... His heart was broken for lost Israel, as He surely knew that they would not repent. We do not know how many of the nations may repent. We do know of the vast numbers that could repent - if they would. Will they? Only God knows, but we can pray.
