Dear Praying Brethren,

For those of you who are still having difficulty writing ‘2010,’ we sympathize.  However, the New Year is here, and we must be about our Master’s work.

One family that is definitely ‘on with the Master’s work’ is Rodney and Lynn Myers. They left for Tanzania on February 3; by the time that you read this, they will be there (Lord willing). This is summertime in Tanzania (they are in the southern hemisphere), and daytime temperatures (depending upon where you are) will commonly exceed 100 degrees. Even though the Myers family has been in the southern United States since November, it is still going to be quite a change! Pray for them as they make the adjustment back to the heat, humidity, and more slowly-moving culture of Tanzania. It is unusual to find air conditioning in Tanzania; the Myers do not have it.

The challenge among the Datooga in Tanzania is immense: evangelize and plant churches among a semi-nomadic people without the Scriptures in their language. Two couples (the Shipe family hopes to leave for Tanzania late this year) are not going to get the job done. The Lord alone is able; pray for the missionary families. Also, pray for workers to go (Matt 9.38). Rev 7.9, if taken literally, would indicate that there should be Datooga among those praising the Lord in heaven. By God’s Grace, the Myers and Shipe families intend that there will be Datooga in heaven, and Datooga churches in Tanzania. To put it simply, prayer does work. In 2005, Ruth and I visited Europe (on our way to Africa). We were challenged to pray for workers, and we challenged you (our readers) as well. Since then the Lord has sent us five additional families to work in Europe. Prayer works! It is as simple as that. Prayer will see the Datooga reached. We are counting on the Lord of Glory, and He will work.

There are many other challenges in Africa; indeed there are challenges everywhere that one might look! The United States is not without challenge as well. Every generation needs to be evangelized – it is true that ‘God has no grandchildren.’ Gospel Furthering Fellowship is keenly aware of this truth, and Ted and Sandy Ball are working diligently to see churches planted in this country as well. Our part is to pray, and to assist in every way that we can. We count it a privilege to do so, and thank you for your part.

Sincerely in Christ,

Bruce P. Busch
