Dear Praying Brethren,
Spring is here! Actually it is not (until March 21), but the last few days in Pennsylvania have been significantly warmer. At the office, we have had a colder than usual winter (although without much snow), as reflected in our heating bills, so we are delighted to see the warmer weather.
Along with the weather comes increased travel for most of our missionaries (as well as the Director). We are happy to report that Ron and Heidi Caasi (and their sons, Samuel & Isaac) are home safely from Asia, and will be visiting their supporting churches. The Lord has provided an automobile for them, so they will be running up the miles. The Office has their schedule if you should desire it.
A recent highlight in Tanzania was sixteen (Yes, 16) professions during a visit to the village of Mdori with an evangelist and Rodney Myers. It is hard for me NOT to get excited, as this may very well be the breakthrough that we have been praying for with the Datooga tribe. Lord willing, this will be the site for Rodney's first church plant. It is comparatively easy to get 'professions' in Africa, but to build a sound fundamental church is often quite another story. Too many times the local people will say what they think that you want to hear; this is why I refer to "professions" rather than salvation. Only the Lord knows what is in the hearts of the 'professors,' but a wise missionary will be careful in following these up.
Allow me to highlight two of our Appointees: the Frizzell family (Nathan, Karen, and their four children), and the Stevenson family (Jared, Rebekah, and their two). The Frizzells are just getting started towards South Africa; the Stevensons are hoping that 2008 is their year (to go to France)! Both of these families have an additional electronic presence on the net; see our website for details. The computer is here to stay!
The end of the fiscal year for GFF is March 31, and it appears as if we will end the year in the black. We are so thankful to all of you for your faithful support and prayer for your missionaries and this ministry. Praise the Lord for YOU!
For the Missionaries,
Bruce P. Busch
