My Dear Brethren,

As I write this, I am deeply concerned about the state of churches in the U.S.A.  It is difficult to assess the state of churches here.  With our American society becoming increasingly receptive to multi-cultural (non-Christian) ideas, it would be easy to assume that churches are in a sad state; we may very well be!  However, The Gospel Furthering Fellowship is doing well, and so are the fundamental churches in our immediate area.  Similarly, with the economic upheavals that are going on in so many places, it would be easy to assume the worst.  We have not faced ‘the worst’ at our office, although there have been some (mostly small) issues for some missionaries.

What then may we conclude?  Certainly we know that there are many unsaved in these United States, and that there is a great deal of work to be done.  Decay in the culture is not good, and that needs to turn around.  That is not our concern in particular; the Gospel changes one sinner at a time.  If by God’s Grace enough sinners are changed, the culture will change – the evangelism of sinners is what WE do.  Premillennialism has long assumed (2 Tim 3.13) that our culture (our world) will get worse and worse, and that seems to be happening. Hope is not out of the question, however.  Revival can certainly happen, and we are praying for that!

One further item for prayer has been Ted and Sandy Ball.  The largest part of their active ministry has been recruiting, and this is being affected by Ted’s health.  Pray for them; as you know, when the husband is sick the wife feels it most keenly and directly.  The Ball’s daughter (Valerie Gay) also continues on sick leave, please remember to pray for that family as well.  It is not easy for the mother of three small children to be sick!

Our people on prefield ministry are doing well. As I write this, I believe both the Frizzell and Shipe families are in the South (although it has been cold there as well!). The Torres family is based in Alabama, although they have been traveling. The question can be asked ‘isn’t this a terrible time to raise support?’  Answer: God’s economy and man’s are not the same.  We can do “all things” through Christ; in particular we can do His will.  We go forward in that confidence, thankful for you, your prayers and support.

For the GFF family,
