Dear Praying Brethren,
For several reasons, it is obvious that you prayed as I left the U.S. One, I arrived everywhere that I was supposed to go when I should have arrived. Two, my bags and all the supplies that I was carrying also arrived without a problem. Three, I stayed physically well, even though my host in one country was sick, as well as his entire family! Fourth, and perhaps most important, there were some real accomplishments in ministry.
Usually it is best to be cautious when assessing the accomplishments of ministry. Sometimes it takes years for outcomes to be truly known; some things will probably never be known until eternity. With these caveats, definite and solid progress was seen, particularly in one place. Due to security, I cannot say more; what I will say is THANK YOU for your prayers and Praise the Lord for the results! I am eagerly waiting to see direct results and spiritual milestones which should be coming.
When I did arrive home, "jet lag" arrived with me. I felt awful for a few days (although I continued to work). More recently, I did travel in the south to see some missionaries, although Peter Pinyol and his family returned to Spain more quickly than they had originally planned. I was thankful to be able to go with Ruth (my dear wife). We saw Dave and Jane Claar, Ted and Sandy Ball, and also Michael & Valerie Gay. The Claar family and the Ball family are continuing to minister, while the
Gay family remains on medical leave (Valerie has a very bad case of Lyme disease, and many complications from it). Briefly, I saw Rodney Myers and Aaron Shipe. Lord willing, I expect to see both of those men and their families later this month in a missions conference being held close to the Office. It has been a full summer, but a blessed one – because YOU prayed!
I am hesitant to report this, but I recently learned that Nathan and Karen Frizzell had an accident with their 'travel trailer.' Their very first day of full-time prefield ministry, on their way to their first meeting, they had a wreck. Everyone is fine; their Chevrolet Suburban has only slight damage. Their thirty-one foot trailer has more damage, but as of this writing, we do not know what their insurance is going to do. Again, Prayer is the answer. There are millions out in South Africa who need to hear the Gospel, and a determined and implacable enemy (Satan) who would love to discourage the Frizzell family from every going! Pray. God is Sovereign.
