Dear Praying Brethren,
There has never been (nor will there ever be) a more magnificent opportunity for any of God's creatures to cry GLORY than in Luke 2.14. Phil 2.10-11 sum it up quite well when it tells us that the day is coming when "every knee should bow," and (11) "every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord," all to God's GLORY. This is the "reason for the season," as someone said.
As we approach the end of 2007, it is easy to survey this past year. Certainly it would be easy to see the Blessings in the past. It is ALL because of the Risen Christ. Careful stewardship is required by God, and probably every statistic that we could name would indicate that we have done very well in 2007. Praise the Lord for that! Yet we must look ahead, not behind, at 2008. Life cannot be lived on past blessings, as thankful as we are.
The facts of our Lord's birth are incontrovertible. The New Testament records that even His enemies were aware of these things; as Paul said "this thing was not done in a corner." (Acts 26.26) If not the best attested fact in history, certainly the life and death of our Lord Jesus Christ is very well known. Glory to God, our Savior has come; may we never be the same again!
I must pass a brief note to all of our longer-term supporters: Anne Virgilio (missionary 1987-1994) has died. Anne has been in declining health for years, and was in a nursing home. I am sure that her ministry partner (JoAnn Chevrier, also with GFF in the past) will appreciate your prayers. Certainly the Lord is faithful, and will reward Anne (as He does all) for her labors.
We are thankful for ALL of you this past year, your labors, prayers, and financial support. Without YOU, we could not serve! While you are praying, I must mention again the declining dollar. Some of you see our website (www.gffministries.com) and are particularly aware of our workers in Europe. How would you like to take a pay cut of more than 50%? Due to the decline in the dollar (particularly against the "Euro"), that is what has happened in the last two years to many missionaries. PRAYER can change that; God is not limited to dollars, euros, shillings, or any other financial instrument. The Lord can do as He wishes, with the economy or anything else. Who will question Him? (Dan 4.35) Who can stop Him? NO ONE - He is the Lord!
We wish you a Blessed Christmas,
