Jesus
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest… and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Luke 1.32-33
Christmas 2009
“He shall be great …” Actually, He already was! It was simply that the world did not know the Lord Jesus Christ, He was not yet incarnate (in flesh). There had been glimpses of Him in the theophanies (appearances of God) in the Old Testament. Now the Lord was to make His appearance in the flesh. The simple fact that He did changed the world as we know it. We could wish that His millennial kingdom would come, and soon. If the rapture of the church were to come today, then a horrible period of tribulation and judgment (7 years) must follow, then finally His kingdom. The need for man is urgent, and can only be met by a GREAT Savior.
As the world so often does, men ‘make merchandise’ out of the Holy (John 2.16). The world will do as it wills, and make Christmas the largest commercial event of the year. It is our task, rather, to tell a dying world that JESUS SAVES. In 2009, GFF was busy reaching the world for Christ – not commercialism. We help missionaries and local churches to reach their goals for Christ.
We are always delighted to add missionary families; for me a highlight of the year would have been David and Debbie Nunemaker. We cannot disclose all of the areas in which they minister in central and East Asia, as well as central France. All of these areas are among the least-evangelized areas in the world, and we need to continue to pray the Lord of the Harvest to send forth more laborers. As a personal note, it is sometimes difficult for me (Bruce) to see these things and not wish to go myself!
The harvest has been good in 2009, and we are thankful for a minimal amount of financial disruption to GFF. Some missionaries have been affected, but it has not been massive. We do pray for those who give sacrificially and prayerfully to see this ministry continue, and trust the Lord to take care of them (as we know that HE alone is able!).
Join us together in rejoicing that HE has come, and the world is forever and ever inescapably different!
Sincerely in Christ,
