A Bid to Abide in Prayer
There are three things I believe are most pressing for you to be assured of concerning the GFF missionaries that you support. First, they are all safely continuing in the countries where they serve—none feel threatened physically due to the present conditions of the Chinese Covid-19 virus or the governmental reactions to it in the countries where they reside and minister. For that, we can express much thanks!
Second, as of March 30, 2020, there are no reports of any of our missionaries or anyone in their immediate families being infected. Granted, many of our missionaries live in countries where the virus’s presence is minute; however, there are others where extensive effects are felt. At this moment, all missionaries are clear from Covid-19. That is a great assurance for us especially since there is such a great diversity among them. Not just in age, but we have those with clean health and those with health issues as well as those with extensive health care available to them and those whose care is limited. Regardless, we are grateful for God’s favor!
Third, all our missionaries are able to carry on with their calling, albeit, they do so in inconvenient but creative ways. Some are able to have personal visits or walk side-by-side in low access areas. Others utilize Facebook live or other live streaming venues and even use conference calls and emails. The methods change for a time, but the message itself is true, timeless and changeless. If God used the brevity of Jonah’s message to bring the city of Nineveh to its knees, so God can use the brief moments each of our missionaries have to minister to bring about extraordinary results.
Furthermore, God and His Word are not distant or removed, though the missionary himself may be. The psalmist said: “My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned…” (Ps. 39:3) The burning within him was caused by his contemplation on the law of God and the languishing that his sin had brought to his soul! I bid you to abide in prayer with me—asking God to not only set a seal of protection on our missionaries, but to set a fire in the hearts of those who have already heard God’s Word… that they might cry out in obedience and faith as they muse on its message!
Thank you for any time and every time you pray!
