Don’t Hold Back Holding Back!
April 2022
Satan is the god of this world; but Jesus is the Savior of it! When we understand the enormous infrastructure of demonic activity among the world’s governments, societies, and its sway over the individual hearts of men, we may sense the weightiness of hostility against the Gospel and against those who bear it to the uttermost. To say it is conflicting is an understatement. If we add to that the number of resources and time which Satan has at his disposal and has utilized to bring about the depth of chaos, corruption, and crime we see unfurled and unfolding before our very eyes today, we may also assume a worrisome posture of hopelessness. There is such hatred and fear among the masses fueled by wars of misinformation and misdirection; how is it even possible for a searching heart in a hostile closed access country or a sin weary home in a reclusive rain forest to hear about hope for their present destress as well as for their future destruction?
2 Thessalonians 2:7 speaks of he who restrains, literally holds back, the evil onslaught of the Wicked One. It’s clear that “He” who does so is the Holy Spirit of God himself. His restraining work is done via local spirit-filled congregations of humble believers as they gather throughout the world. James speaks of availing prayers (Js.5:16); Paul speaks of armored prayer warriors (Eph.6:18). Jesus speaks of praying for more laborers (Mt.9:38). As evil is restrained, the saving power of the Gospel goes forth!
Therefore, though our spirits be weary, and our souls be worried… though our hearts be heavy, and our hands are hanging low, let us encourage ourselves in the Lord and courageously push forward in the posture of collective prayer unified by the Spirit that the Gospel be not hindered or hampered as those who have not heard await the message of the power of God that brings them salvation! Satan is the god of this world; but Jesus is the Savior of it. Thank you for praying!
