Dear Praying Friends,
Missions is not a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but a one-life-to-offer endeavor! Jesus clearly speaks of this in Mark 8:35 by saying that if we lose our life for His sake and the gospel’s, we will find it…and it will be a profitable exchange!
In January, I had the honor of visiting some of our missionaries who are laboring in Tanzania. Aaron and Nicole Shipe have been working hard to plant an Independent Baptist Church in the small rural village of Mapea! Opposition and set-backs are certainly abounding, but it has never caused them to doubt how profitable their exchange has been for Christ’s sake and the Gospel! As I preached on one Sunday morning to a small group of believers there, I realized that this ‘profitable exchange’ which the Shipe’s have made is what they are laboring to teach these dear folks as well!
But, not just the Shipe’s in Tanzania, I am thankful to have recently received correspondence from church planters, Bible translators, and others across the globe that time would fail me to tell of. These dedicated missionaries are fully aware of the value of losing something while trusting that their loss will be profitable, not for themselves, but for the Kingdom of God! Since missions is indeed an endeavor, then let us endeavor to pray for them as they strive to commit these things which they have heard and seen in the Scriptures to faithful believers who can continue the cycle by teaching it to others also! (2 Timothy 2:2)
I am your friend and servant,
