The Weight of the Season
December, 2020
The Christmas season is, in essence and practice, a season of missions! As Paul put it in 1 Timothy 1:15: “…Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” Remembering that Christ came, though heartwarming to us, does nothing to warm the hearts of those who have yet to hear the original “Good News” of His coming to save sinners to the uttermost. (Heb. 7:25) In this real sense, Christmas and the Coming of Christ are inseparably tied to the Commission and the going of the Gospel of Christ. It is indeed a faithful saying worthy of all acceptation by those who are yet awaiting its news!
Pastor Craig Griffith served as GFF’s board president from 2005 until his recent graduation to glory. He struggled for ten short weeks with a rare and aggressive cancer which took his physical life suddenly on November 21, 2020 at two thirty in the afternoon. He was fifty-two years old. Bro. Craig had something to say about the hearts of we who have already heard and accepted the Good News. He said:
“We don’t fulfill the Great Commission because we fail to feel the heaviness and weight of the Great Commission!”
As our hearts are uplifted with harmonious carols of Christmas, let us remember Bro. Craig’s challenging statement and appreciate its weight.
Let us not simply remember Christmas but retie it to the Commission!
Winning Souls Wisely!
